WD External hard drive not detected

hi,

Can anyone please help me. I have a WD My book external Hard drive not detected by vista home premium, it made the clicking sound as it was installed properly and i could see the driver installing icon, and when i clicked on it, it says that the INITIO DRIVE has been installed and ready to use.

Go all the blue lights on the WD external harddrive tried several different cables of USB, the even bought a new one and still no luck.

Can anyone please help.

You could format the hard drive disk in the drive manager (Control Panel -> System and Maintence -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Managment -> Disk Managment).
This should work.
